Food Distribution

Why Food Distribution

In 2023, 13.5% of U.S. households—around 18 million families—faced food insecurity, meaning nearly 1 out of every 7 households struggled to access adequate food (Source: USDA, Food Security Status of U.S. Households in 2023). At the same time, more than 27% of surplus food is thrown away (Source: ReFED). Behind these numbers are parents skipping meals, seniors choosing between groceries and medicine, and children going to bed hungry—highlighting the urgent need for effective solutions. As a Food Distribution NGO India, Raising Hope Foundation supports initiatives inspired by this global challenge, working to close the gap by redirecting surplus food to families who need it most.

What we do

Raising Hope Foundation’s comprehensive and community-centric programme, as a Food Distribution NGO India, supports underserved communities across both rural and urban India. Through a two-pronged approach, the initiative ensures access to essential nutrition and support services, addressing key gaps in availability, accessibility, and affordability for vulnerable populations.
